Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International

ABWTI -  The "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International" is a network of human rights organisations fighting against all forms of torture, cruel inhuman or degrading treatment, forced disappearances, summary execution, child abuse or other more subtle forms of violent repression.

Our work is for aid, advice, release, rehabilitation; and welfare of the illegally and unlawfully prisoned persons, mental patients, missing persons/children, drug addicts; and also the rehabilitation and welfare of the families of these unfortunate human beings purely on humanitarian grounds in the greater interest of justice and humanity without any affiliation or consideration of any political party and activities. We are a group of human rights activist, working against the violation of human rights all over the globe.

In the last 16 years ABWTI  has so far been able to get release of more than 250,000 (Two hundred and fifty thousand) innocent prisoners who were illegally imprisoned in Pakistan as well as in other Countries. Some of them were released after 50 to 55 years of illegal confinement and some of them were even born in prisons and mental asylums and released after 35 to 40 long years only because of the hectic efforts of this organisation. ABWTI also extends help and assistance for the rehabilitation of these unfortunate people in the society.

The "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International" has also arranged release of about 8000 persons from lunatic asylums and mental wards of prisons, these were not mental cases but were kept in these asylums by some influential persons due to their own vested interests.

ABWTI  has also been successful to trace out more than 45,000 (forty five thousand) children through the Bureau of Missing Persons (also part of ABWTI) who were safely delivered to their families. These include children who were set free from bounded labour camps and young girls who had been sold away for prostitution.

One of the remarkable achievements of "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust" is the collection of the data of Pakistani prisoners confined in different Jails of Foreign Countries due to various misunderstandings and were released, and repatriated back to Pakistan due to the work by ABWTI. Similarly the Trust was able to get released a number of Foreign nationals from Pakistani Jails and sent them to their respective Home Countries on Trust's expenses. The "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International" has appointed 74 peoples in various jails and mental asylums to take care of mental patients.
