| Anti-depressant and
Sperm-count
Question:
thanks for this chance for help - my name is j--- b---
26yrs - i
feel strange talking about sexual
disfunction - but i do need help!
2 years ago i went to my doctor for help
for depression - i was in a
right mess - i was prescribed
fluxatine - this drug ruined my sex drive
pretty much straight away - i could
optain an errection - but i could
not ejaculate - two years later the
problem is still very bad (i produce
very little semen - and never have a
physical desire for sex) -
throughout the two years of seeing my
doctors ( there are a few at
my
practice ) on a mounthly basis - they
have no answers and have
prescribed me no treatment - i did
manage to get a test at the hospital
to check whether my sperm are o.k -
(they are) but the amount i produce
- i beleive, has fallen to about
10-15% of the amount i was producing
before the fluxatine treatment! - my
doctor said this would pass 6
months after the treatment - i wasnt
told this would happen in the first
place - i was so depressed i just took
the drug - hoping it would help
me - im unsure what to do - thanks if
you have any advice - or any links
that may help!
all the best
happy new year

Response:
Hello John
Thanks and a happy and peaceful New Year to
you also.
Antidepressants often have the side-effect
of decreasing the libido but not sperm count.
It would be a good idea to check with a
Urologist and find out if their is any physical reason for the drop in
sperm count. You may also
want to check with your Psychiatrist for an anti-depressant that does not
have a similar side-effect.
