Right to Work

Quran

Sūrah an Nisa' 4.32
"to men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn."

Sūrah al Araf 7.10
'Yea indeed O men, We have given you a bountiful place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you.'

Sūrah al Mulk: 67.15
'He it is who has made the earth easy to live upon: go about, then, in all its regions, and partake of the sustenance which He provides: but (always bear in mind that) unto Him you shall resurrected'.

Ahadith

"No one eats better food than that which he earns through his own work. The Prophet Dawood (David) used to eat of what he earned through his own work".

"The best earnings are what a worker earns when he works conscientiously".

"The most blessed earnings are those that come through a person's own work".

"Every Muslim has a duty to give sadaqa".  His companions asked, "What if he has nothing to give?"  He said: "Let him work with his own hands to benefit himself and give to charity".

Note:  According to Qur'anic teaching, every man and woman has the right to work, whether the work consists of gainful employment or voluntary service. The fruits of labor belong to the one who has worked for them -- regardless of whether it is a man or a woman.
